Microfocus
RevealIT Controlled Scanner Execution

Micro Focus Universal Discovery provides OOB a set of scheduling options for scanner discovery but those scheduling methods are not often adequate for sensitive devices like VM hosted on virtual hosts ,cloud servers , appliances etc.. Scanning all VMs of a host all at the same can overwhelm the server and eventually leaves a spike in IOPS that take a server down.

RevealIT has built a “Controlled Scanner Execution Adapter” that extends the Micro Focus Universal Discovery scheduling by providing a more powerful way to schedule discovery scans . Scans from UCMDB can be controlled to not overload a VM host or a network thereby significantly reducing IOPS and traffic on the network .

 

The Pain :
Are you missing devices in UD for some unexplained reason? Or perhaps some devices have core inventory attributes changing across discovery cycles.
For a variety of reasons, it’s possible for some of your UD agents to be configured with the same ID. This can result in strange behaviour and missing devices in UD.
Worse, customers often don’t even know they have a problem until end-users point out a ‘data quality’ issue in UD, and start losing trust in the system.


Our Solution :
The RevealIT Duplicate UD Agent ID adapter automatically detects the existence of duplicate agent IDs and provides the UD administrator with a report of the problem devices. Often, you can quickly identify patterns in the report that will point you to the root cause, so you can address the problem at the source.

The Pain :
Do you know what plugins are installed as part of your Jira installation? Do the installed plugins come with licensing requirements? Do the plugins have known security vulnerabilities?

This adapter will provide End of Life information for software from top commercial vendors such as Microsoft. This is a native plugin for UCMDB and the integration seamlessly populates the CMDB with the EOL value when a software is discovered.

 

The Pain :
Microsoft SQL Server comes in different editions and accurate recognition of the edition of an installation is critical. Detect an edition incorrectly, and your install counts for compliance may be out of whack without you even realizing it. Furthermore, knowing what editions are installed for what users allows you to optimize license costs by ensuring higher-priced editions are rolled out only where necessary.
As many customers have found out already, the OOB discovery and recognition library within UD does not do a good job on accurately discovering SQL Server editions.


Our Solution :
The RevealIT SQL Server enhanced discovery for UD performs an in-depth discovery of SQL Server installations to give you a more accurate picture of your environment.

This adapter captures the last user logged into a device. It can capture up to the last 5 login users of the system. Works for Windows and Unix-type systems.

Use Case :

  • Find Device Owner
  • Security Purposes, such as who logged into a device
  • DDMi used to provide this information, and UCMDB doesn’t.

Solution :

User Login information is captured and imported into MF UCMDB as separate CIs, linked to a device. This information can then be pushed over to MF Asset Manager.

This UCMDB integration adapter will populate UCMDB with asset information from JAMF Pro Discovery. JAMF Pro is a popular tool for managing Apple devices. This integration serves as a way to populate Apple device information into MF UCMDB. Can populate information like,

  • iMac
  • Macbook

Use Case :

This will aid customers who want to deploy a new MF UD agent certificate to their UD implementation or customers in the process of moving from DDMi to UD.

RevealIT Flexera DataPlatform Normalize Integration for Micro Focus UCMDB

This adapter will normalize CIs in MF UCMDB to match Flexera(BDNA) Catalog.

This adapter will push normalized information from Flexera Data Platform(BDNA Normalize) to MF AssetManager.

This adapter will centralize the Data Platform (BDNA) solution deployed on individual MF UD probes,therebyy significantly reducing infrastructure costs, software license costs ,and maintenance costs

With BDNA integration , the raw discovered software titles are replaced by the normalized titles .This adapter will capture RAW software titles as discovered by UD which can be used as a reference to address issues arising on the system where the software is installed.

This adapter will capture custom applications taught in UD User SAI files, which are lost when normalizing information in DataPlatform (BDNA).

This adapter will capture applications recognized by UD but not yet available on the Flexera library. Once applications are made available in the Flexera library, this module reconciles with the UD entry and replaces it with the Flexera Catalog entry.
