Micro Focus Universal Discovery provides OOB a set of scheduling options for scanner discovery but those scheduling methods are not often adequate for sensitive devices like VM hosted on virtual hosts ,cloud servers , appliances etc.. Scanning all VMs of a host all at the same can overwhelm the server and eventually leaves a spike in IOPS that take a server down.

RevealIT has built a “Controlled Scanner Execution Adapter” that extends the Micro Focus Universal Discovery scheduling by providing a more powerful way to schedule discovery scans . Scans from UCMDB can be controlled to not overload a VM host or a network thereby significantly reducing IOPS and traffic on the network .

The Pain :
Are you missing devices in UD for some unexplained reason? Or perhaps some devices have core inventory attributes changing across discovery cycles.
For a variety of reasons, it’s possible for some of your UD agents to be configured with the same ID. This can result in strange behaviour and missing devices in UD.

The RevealIT Duplicate UD Agent ID adapter automatically detects the existence of duplicate agent IDs and provides the UD administrator of a report of the problem devices. Often, you can quickly identify patterns in the report which will point you to the root cause, so you can address the problem at the source.

This adapter will provide End of Life information for software from top commercial vendors such as Microsoft. This is a native plugin for UCMDB and the integration seamlessly populates the CMDB with the EOL value when a software is discovered.

The Pain :
Microsoft SQL Server comes in different editions and accurate recognition of the edition of an installation is critical. Detect an edition incorrectly, and your install counts for compliance may be out of whack without you even realizing it. Furthermore, knowing what editions are installed for what users allows you to optimize license costs by ensuring higher-priced editions are rolled out only where necessary.
As many customers have found out already, the OOB discovery and recognition library within UD does not do a good job on accurately discovering SQL Server editions.

This adapter will capture the last login user logged into a device. It can capture upto last 5 login users of the system. Works for Windows and Unix type systems.
